Implant Sciences Announces First Order for QS Explosives Detector from Pakistan Airport Security Force.WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Implant Sciences Corporation (AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange : IMX IMX In My eXperience IMX Interactive Music Exchange (TV show) IMX Integrated Multimedia Exchange IMX Industrywide Mortgage Exchange IMX Intermodal Marketing Extension IMX Inverse Multiplexor , "IMX.WS") a developer and manufacturer of products for national security, medicine and industry, today announced the signing of an agreement between Amroha Engineering Inc. ("AEI AEI American Enterprise Institute AEI Archive of European Integration AEI Australian Education International AEI Automotive Engineering International AEI Australian Education Index AEI Albert Einstein Institute ") and Pakistan Airport Security Force for the sale of our Quantum Sniffer(TM) explosives detection devices ("QS(TM)"). This first order requires the delivery of six (6) of our QS-H100 hand-held explosives detection devices. The QS-H100 is intended for use by the Pakistan Airport Security Force to evaluate passengers' carry-on baggage for explosive vapors and particulates at Pakistan's major international airports. AEI, a systems engineering and integration firm based in Richmond, California, is Implant Sciences' exclusive distributor for the marketing, sales and service of our security equipment in Pakistan. AEI will provide installation and training, as well as warranty and on-going maintenance services for our explosives detection equipment distributed by them. Currently, the detection of trace explosives at security checkpoints in most domestic airports is performed by rubbing a small piece of cloth Noun 1. piece of cloth - a separate part consisting of fabric piece of material bib - top part of an apron; covering the chest chamois cloth - a piece of chamois used for washing windows or cars , commonly referred to as a "swab", over articles to be evaluated, such as briefcase In Windows 95/98, a system folder used for synchronizing files between two computers, typically a desktop and laptop computer. Files to be worked on are placed into a Briefcase, which is then transferred to the second machine via floppy, cable or network. or handbag latches and zippers, in an attempt to collect trace "particles" of explosives. The swab is then placed into a device that utilizes a radioactive source in the detection process. In contrast, Implant Sciences' proprietary QS(TM) technology is, to the best of managements' knowledge, the only technology which detects pure vapors of explosives. In layman's terms, the QS(TM) technology is closest to replicating the "sniffing sniff v. sniffed, sniff·ing, sniffs v.intr. 1. a. To inhale a short, audible breath through the nose, as in smelling something. b. To sniffle. 2. " ability of dogs. In addition, the QS(TM) does not use radioactive agents, and based on publicly available information, our devices take the least time to sample and analyze a target. The QS(TM) may be used to determine the presence of, or confirm the absence of, common explosives in personal equipment, packages, postal mail and cargo that may be conveyed by persons, vehicles, airplanes, and watercraft. AEI is one of several distributors selected by the Company to market, sell and service our QS(TM) products internationally. AEI's selection was based on their demonstration of a proven "track record" of sales and distribution of security equipment and experience with local laws and rules regarding equipment sales, solicitations, and tenders. The Company will continue to appoint additional distributors, such as AEI, to expand our international distribution channels for our current and future QS(TM) products. Dr. Anthony J. Armini, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of Implant Sciences Corporation, stated, "We are pleased to announce this international governmental order for our hand-held Quantum Sniffer(TM) explosives detection equipment. We believe this first order, to be delivered for the anticipated use by the Pakistan Airport Security Force in areas of significant risk, positions our technology in the important South Asian and Middle East markets. Our management views this particular order as a sign of confidence in our technology as a deterrent to criminal activities in continuing efforts to secure life and property." Dr. Armini further stated, "Regardless of our belief that our proprietary QS(TM) explosives detection devices have clear technological advantages over our competitors, we have always understood the cycle for sales of explosives detection equipment to be long. This important international order was, in fact, won in a competitive bidding Competitive bidding A securities offering process in which securities firms submit competing bids to the issuer for the securities the issuer wishes to sell. competitive bidding 1. process involving our major trace explosives detection competitors. We are therefore encouraged and hopeful that this first order is an indication by the marketplace of its recognition of the clear advantages that our QS(TM) technology holds over the competition. We continue to provide quotes to potential customers, outside of military agency customers, to obtain further orders for our first generation of explosive detection Explosive detection is a non-destructive inspection process to determine whether a container contains explosive material.
