DB289 earlier had entered a Phase II site for PCP in South Africa. Peru is a second site that will increase the enrollment of patients in the clinical trials. The trial protocol requires patients to be treated for a total of 21 days. Initial patients will be enrolled in the trial if they are intolerant or cannot be treated with Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole, the standard treatment for PCP. Steve Thompson, the President and CEO of Immtech said, "It is important for us to rapidly enroll new patients in this trial to demonstrate the safety and efficiency of DB289 for treating PCP. The Peruvian site will make a significant impact on the speed with which we will complete this Phase II study." About Immtech International Inc.
