A girl sits at a picnic table A picnic table (or sometimes a picnic bench) is a modified table with benches expressly for the purpose of eating a meal outdoors (picnicking). In the past, picnic tables were typically made of wood, but modern tables can be made out of anything from recycled plastic to by a river using blocks to create an urban landscape which merges with an actual group of skyscrapers across the river. A boy hangs from a tree's branch putting a block on top of one of these buildings. Words can't convey the magic of the mystery created by these realistically painted scenes. This book provides stimulating examples of the connection between intellect and our psyches. These examples also help us understand more about how our emotions are tweaked by artistic devices. --Reviewed by Ken Marantz, professor emeritus of art education at Ohio State University Ohio State University, main campus at Columbus; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1870, opened 1873 as Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College, renamed 1878.
