ImageWare and ISPINTELL Donate Mobile Identification Solution to Support Tsunami Relief Effort.

SAN DIEGO -- ImageWare(R) Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) and its Australian partner, Intelligence & Strategic Processes Pty Ltd (ISPINTELL), today announced a collaboration to support the tsunami relief effort by supplying the New South Wales (NSW) Police, Australia, with a mobile identification solution that will help the Tsunami Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team identify missing and unidentified disaster victims. The solution was provided in response to a request from the NSW Police and was deployed by the DVI team. The DVI team is comprised of more than 60 DVI specialists from countries around the world and operates out of the newly constructed Information Management Centre in Phuket, Thailand. The Thai government in support of this effort created the Information Management Centre.

"Because of our expertise and technology, we were able to respond very quickly to the tsunami disaster, build a mobile DVI system and have it immediately up and running."

The mobile identification solution combines ImageWare's biometric and investigative software technologies, which enables the DVI team to capture and import facial images as well as biographical data into a mobile database, and conduct biometric facial recognition searches against that database. Images such as scars, marks and tattoos (SMTs) can also be used if necessary. Those in search of loved ones can also submit photos, which will be scanned and imported into the solution.
