Ikanos' total chipset sales jump from 2 million to 3 million ports

since March 2004 with increased volume shipment of its 100 Mbps

solution for mass deployment

Ikanos Communications, developer of Smart Silicon for Profitable Broadband(TM), today announced that worldwide shipments for its programmable chipsets have exceeded 3 million ports since volume production began less than 21 months ago. Ikanos continues to realize a rapid adoption curve, with total shipments jumping from 2 million to 3 million since March of 2004. Ikanos' Fiber Extension Over Copper silicon provides up to 100 Mbps downstream and up to 50 Mbps upstream over ordinary telephone wires, enabling fast, affordable provisioning of fiber-fast services, including video, voice and fiber-fast Internet. Ikanos has made 100 Mbps deployment by carriers a reality.

Ikanos' customers include NEC and Sumitomo Electric in Japan, Millinet, Dasan and Woojyun Systec in Korea, Marconi (LSE: MONI), ECI Telecom (Nasdaq: ECIL) and Siemens (NYSE: SI) in Europe, and Zyxel Communications Corporation (TAI: 2391.TW) in Taiwan.

It takes 6 months to 18 months of testing and qualification of technology for mass deployment in a carrier network and Ikanos has successfully achieved that level of qualification with several major carriers worldwide.
