At the start of 2000, Las Vegas boasted more than 120,000 hotel and motel rooms, while the city's occupancy rate registered an impressive 88 percent for 1999.

According to the annual listing of the top 200 shows by Tradeshow Week, Las Vegas has also booked the largest trade shows and rented more exhibition space than any other U.S. city in 1999 for the sixth consecutive year.
