Identix Receives $900,000 Order from Hennepin County, MN, Sheriff's Office to Expand Deployment of IBIS Mobile, Real-time Identification Network.

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Provides Additional Handheld, Mobile Biometric Units for Real-time Suspect Identification by Officers in the Field

Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX) announced today that it has received an order valued in excess of $900,000 from the Minnesota Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) to expand HCSO's rollout of Identix' patented IBIS system. HCSO law enforcement officers have reported tremendous success with their use of their IBIS network and handheld mobile units that enable them to conduct real-time, on-the-spot biometric identification of individuals in the field. Under this new order, HCSO will deploy additional IBIS mobile handheld units into the field and will also add a new AFIS interface for expanded search capabilities by its officers.

The mobile IBIS handheld units provide officers with the ability to capture and wirelessly transmit fingerprint and facial image data of suspects in the field through the IBIS server. With this rollout of additional units, Minnesota now has more than 150 IBIS handheld units for officer use throughout the State. Minnesota currently employs more than 9,000 law enforcement officers. The Minnesota IBIS deployment has been funded by grants from the National Institute of Justice and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Of the more than 12,800 field transmissions that have been conducted to date, over 3,100 were positive hits against law enforcement databases and more than 535 resulted in field detentions or arrests.
