Identix/ANADAC Positioned to Capture Business From GSA's $1.5 Billion Smart Access Common ID Procurement.

Contract Calls for Supply of Smart Card-Ready, PKI-Enabled and

Biometric Secured Enterprise Solutions for Federal Agencies

Identix Inc. (AMEX: IDX), a worldwide leader in providing biometric authentication, security and identification solutions, announced that it is positioned to capture additional business for its BioLogon(TM) product suite of enterprise security solutions in the Federal government marketplace as a result of recently awarded Smart Access Common Identification contracts from the General Services Administration (GSA).

In addition to its extensive presence in the Federal marketplace through its wholly-owned subsidiary, ANADAC Inc., Identix offers its full range of biometric authentication hardware and software solutions on ANADAC's GSA Federal Supply Schedule (FSS).

The Smart Access Common Identification contracts have a minimum order value of $10,000 each and are estimated to have an aggregate value of $1.5 billion over 10 years to the five prime contract awardees. The primary focus of the contracts is designed to establish contract vehicles for use by all U.S. Federal Agencies to acquire common, interoperable multi-application smart cards.

Mandatory technology requirements for the smart card include an electronically generated photograph for visual identification, a biometric reference template for use in logical and physical access control, and digital certificates for use in electronic transactions. Identix will offer its biometric and smart card enabled authentication, security, and identification products as a Tier 1 vendor through three of the five winning prime contract awardees, including: Litton PRC of Mclean, Va.; Logicon Inc of Herndon, Va.; and 3-G International Inc of Springfield, Va.

Integrity Program) an anti-fraud initiative.

-- Department of Defense -- Operation MONGOOSE -- an anti-fraud

initiative where Identix developed and deployed a hardware and

software solution as well as personnel.

-- General Services Administration Smart Card Tech Center --

Identix's BioLogon network security products being utilized in

logical access control.

-- General Services Administration's (GSA) Federal Technology

Service (FTS) Project utilizing smart cards and biometric

technologies to support reinvention of business processes,

increase system security and confidence in system data. The

pilot incorporates contact and contactless smart card 

technologies, magnetic-stripe technology, digital photo

technology, a Java platform, fingerprint biometrics, and

public key technologies.

-- Department of Defense/Defense Manpower Data Center --

Identix's technology installed throughout RAPIDS and DEERS 

(Real Time Automated Personnel Identification System and

Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System).

-- Department of Treasury -- Electronic Money project. Identix

worked in conjunction with Defense Finance and Accounting

Service (DFAS) and Mellon Bank to deploy and integrate a Point

of Sale solution that used a smart card where the fingerprint

template was stored on the smart card at Ft. Sill Army base.

candidates' social benefits, and fingerprint reference

software for a voter registration system.

-- Panama -- Provided fingerprint hardware and software for a

voter registration system.

-- New Delhi, India -- Provided fingerprint hardware and

software for the New Delhi driver's license system where

information including fingerprint templates were stored on

a 2D bar code.

-- El Salvador -- Provided fingerprint hardware and software

for the country's driver's license system where the

reference templates for the fingerprints were stored on a

smart card.

-- Mexico -- Provided fingerprint hardware and software for

an electronic banking application. Groupo Financiero

Banorte utilizes a smart card to store payroll information

and a fingerprint template to protect that information.

Currently over 4,000 workers are participating in the

project and over $2.5 million have been dispersed by the

ATM's during the pilot.

-- Panama -- Provided fingerprint hardware and software for

the country's national identification program.

-- U.S. State Driver's License Projects in Georgia, West

Virginia, Colorado, and California -- Provided Identix's

biometric hardware and software.
