Ideas & technology come together in Montreal: Montreal may be cold, but the technology is hot at one of the industry's most important annual events.January 2003 marks the 45th anniversary of EXFOR EXFOR Experimental Force EXFOR Exchange Format (for experimental nuclear reaction data) EXFOR Exercise Force [R], the largest annual exhibition of pulp and paper technology in the world. Planners expect approximately 450 exhibitors to be on hand to showcase the latest research and technology for the pulp, paper, and allied industries. The event will take place January 27-30 at the Palais des Congres in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. EXFOR is part of PaperWeek International, hosted by The Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC PAPTAC Pulp And Paper Technical Association of Canada ). Australasia and Latin America also have significant pulp and paper industries. . In 2003, more than 13,000 visitors from 25 countries attended the event, in spite of the chilly location. Within the industry, PaperWeek is widely acknowledged as a "must-attend" event. Papermakers relish the unique opportunity to network with professional peers from around the globe and catch a first glimpse First Glimpse is a monthly consumer electronics magazine published by Sandhills Publishing Company in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. The magazine was known as CE Lifestyles before a name change in early 2006. of the coming year's technological offerings from a vast array of suppliers dedicated to industry development. Many suppliers take advantage of the attendance and industry media attention to launch new products, announce mergers and acquisitions, and showcase their latest technical innovations. The exhibit floor often becomes a proving ground of sorts, as companies with the hottest new ideas reveal themselves through the foot traffic around their booths. Last January, EXFOR 2002 was the first major show at Montreal's Palais des Congres to take advantage of the newly expanded facilities available during the first phases of a C$ 240 million (US$ 155 million) expansion and modernization project sponsored by the Canadian government.
