Idaho: Boise opens learning center.


After an Earth Day grand-opening ceremony, 21 fourth graders from Roosevelt Elementary School

 tested the new Foothills Learning Center. The students took a bird walk and learned how to make nests.

Boise is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Idaho. It is the county seat of Ada County and the principal city of the Boise metropolitan area.
, the center will offer conservation and environmental education through exhibits, a 40-seat classroom and wet lab, as well as an interpretive path through the surrounding area.

The center is a collaborative effort between several public and private interests. The city of Boise, Ada County and the Bureau of Land Management contributed funds for construction of the building while private donors including Boise Cascade Boise Cascade Holdings, LLC, which uses the trade name Boise, is an American pulp and paper company, ranked as the thirteenth largest forest products company in the world.  Corporation, Idaho Power, Intermountain Gas, The Nature Conservancy Nature Conservancy, nonprofit organization established in 1951 to preserve or aid in the preservation of natural environments. It protects wilderness areas in the United States and Canada and is affiliated with similar groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. , Golden Eagle Audubon Society, Sustainable Idaho, Supportive Housing Supportive housing is designed to support individuals, not just socially but with basic life skills. Housing is coupled with social services such as job training, alcohol and drug abuse programs and case management.  Innovative Partnership (SHIP), Terravita Landscape, WaterFurnace International and United Water also donated services and money.
