Idaho: Boise adds to its park jewels.


A new Boise park will be named for Marianne Williams (pictured). A local businessman in Boise named Larry Williams recently decided to give 70 acres to the city's "Ribbon of Jewels" riverside parks Riverside Park refers to several locations:
  • Riverside Park (Manhattan)
  • Riverside Park (Indianapolis), historical amusement park in Indianapolis, Indiana that flourished in the 1930s, now a city park.
. The park, located in the Barber Valley, will be named for his wife, Marianne Williams, and will feature two miles of greenbelt Greenbelt, city (1990 pop. 21,096), Prince Georges co., W central Md., a residential suburb of Washington, D.C.; chartered 1937. Greenbelt was planned and built by the federal government as an experimental model community for families of modest income.  pathways, more than one mile of river frontage and open space with natural settings.

Williams said he developed an appreciation for city parks when he moved to the city from Midvale, Idaho Midvale is a city in Washington County, Idaho, United States. The population was 176 at the 2000 census.

Midvale is the hometown of Idaho's Senior U.S. Senator, Larry Craig.
 in 1966. "We had two small children and very little money" he said. "One of the things we valued about Boise was its wonderful parks ... you can spend time with your family without any cost, which at the time was something we appreciated very much)'

Marianne Williams Park Williams Park is in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. It is the city's first park and encompasses an entire city block between 4th and 3rd Streets North and between 2nd and 1st Avenues North.  will expand the greenbelt park Greenbelt Park, located in Greenbelt, Maryland, is managed by the United States National Park Service. The forested park lies approximately 10 miles northeast of Washington, D.C., and is situated just within the Capital Beltway (which bounds the park to the northeast).  system managed by Boise Parks & Recreation from 168 acres to 237--a 41 percent increase. In collaboration with the Williams family, the city will begin to work on and implement a park master plan. As stipulated in the gift, the city has agreed to develop the park within five years.
