IXnet Announces Opening of NYC Global Network Management Center; New Jersey Flagship Point-of-Presence Also Debuts.

IXnet, Inc. (Nasdaq:EXNT) today opened the doors to its newest state-of-the-art facilities, including a newly expanded Global Network Management Center (GNMC) in the heart of New York's financial district and a world-class Point-of-Presence (POP) In Newark, New Jersey.

The New York Global Network Management Center houses:

-- the global network surveillance center, which monitors IXnet's Extranet in
44 financial centers 24/7;

-- the global help desk, where service representatives use new operational
support systems to serve over 600 financial services customers;

-- a regional (US) installation center, using centralized test positions
capable of provisioning and testing circuits from the desktop;

-- a regional network maintenance center which manages all service-related
activities;

-- a customer presentation and education center.

The physical expansion coincides with a number of system upgrades that will allow IXnet to better serve its customers by providing the most efficient means of monitoring and managing all aspects of network activity, including alarm and report aggregation. "Unifying our global help desk, installation, maintenance, and service teams with state-of-the-art technology allows us to sustain our edge in customer service," said Bill Wagner, Vice President, Global Engineering.

In tandem, IXnet also opened a Point of Presence (POP) at 165 Halsey Street in Newark, New Jersey, featuring a survivable SONET backbone to its main New York GNMC. This facility is a part of IXnet's transatlantic STM-1 ring between the United States and Europe. Designed to exacting industry standards, the Newark POP offers IXnet's customers more than 10,000 square feet of hosted service areas, and access to IXnet's Global ATM, TDM and IP Networks.

IXnet's new Newark POP has battery and generator back-up capabilities. The site also supports a fully-equipped alternate Network Management Center in one of the largest and most secure carrier hotels in the U.S. This security and redundancy for a backup GNMC in a location outside of the New York financial district will allow IXnet to maintain network surveillance without interruption during potential service-impacting events in Manhattan.
