IXIA DEBUTS SEVERAL ROUTING PROTOCOL EMULATIONS.

Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA), Calabasas, Calif., a provider of high-speed, multiport network performance analysis systems, has introduced several new routing protocol emulations targeted at the exploding need of network equipment manufacturers and ISPs to quickly emulate and characterize large-scale systems and networks prior to field deployment.

Support for MPLS RSVP-TE, IS-IS and RIP augments Ixia's current support of routing protocols, which include BGP-4 and OSPF.

"Ixia's well-known capability for offering extremely high-volume traffic generation is an essential component of its routing protocol emulation software," said Tony De La Rosa, routing product manager for Ixia. "With the ability to emulate multiple routing protocols and generate wire-speed traffic on each port, users can construct elaborate network configurations.

"And by utilizing Ixia's interfaces that incorporate a RISC CPU on a per-port basis, Ixia's routing protocol emulation software makes it possible to create a highly scalable and realistic Internet environment that facilitates the design, development and performance verification of next-generation networking equipment and networks."

The Ixia routing protocol emulation software greatly extends Ixia's existing capability for automated testing with the introduction of prebuilt ScriptMate tests that measure the route capacity and the convergence performance for each respective protocol. These tests substantially reduce validation and verification times by automating complex tests.

In addition, Ixia's routing protocol emulation software is supported within Ixia's ScriptGen tool, greatly simplifying the creation of custom tests.

Ixia's reputation for developing products that are both powerful and easy to use is evident in the routing protocol emulation software features that are simply not available on any other protocol emulation test system.

Unique to Ixia's routing protocol emulation software is the simultaneous support of route generation through multiple routing protocols as well as wire-speed traffic on any given port. Other unique capabilities of the software include the quick entry of routing neighbors, path configurations, OSPF, IS-IS and RIP adjacencies, RSVP-TE LSPs, as well as manipulation of large route lists.

In addition, simplified traffic generation gives users the flexibility to transmit from a particular route range up to all routes advertised on a particular port.

Ixia supports its routing protocol emulation suite across all of its Interface Load Modules covering Ethernet at 10/100 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps, as well as Packet Over SONET at OC3c, Oc12c, Oc48c and OC192c speeds.
