Mr. Hanson has been an active supporter of COMPAS for a number of years with particular interest in COMPAS' "Writers & Artists in the Schools (WAITS) Program" to which this grant is directed.

COMPAS' mission is to strengthen people and communities in Minnesota by engaging them in creating art. The WAITS program is one of the most extensive school artist residency programs in the country. Approximately 50 professional artists from many disciplines work in WAITS conducting 150-200 residencies each year, reaching over 40,000 children.
