ITU redelegates UAE 971 numbering system.
Abu Dhabi:AaThe UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced on Thursday that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has re-delegated the UAE ENUM space (971) to the TRA.
The Authority is committed to transparency and continuous development that serves the ICT sector in the UAE.
In this respect, Mohammad Al Ganem, TRA Director General, commented: "The .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA) has proven to possess an excellent capability to manage the .ae country code top level domain from both administrative and technical perspectives in compliance with International best practices, hence, accordingly, the TRA delegated .aeDA to operate the ENUM (971) internet zone for the UAE."
"Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM, from E.164 NUmber Mapping) is a suite of protocols and technologies used to unify the telephone numbering system E.164 with the internet addressing system (DNS), by using a technical method called indirect lookup method. The UAE is allocated the country code (1.7.9.e164.arpa) to represent UAE telephone code (971).
Clients have the choice to register .ae domain name with accredited registrars.
