 ITT SHERATON OPENS THIRD HOTEL IN BRAZIL;
 REINFORCES DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR LATIN AMERICA
 RECIFE, Brazil, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Sheraton Corporation has opened its third property in Brazil, the 200-room Sheraton Petribu Hotel, in the northeastern coastal city of Recife.
 Development of the new $25 million (U.S.) beachfront hotel, intended to cater to both business and leisure travelers, is in keeping with the company's strategy to build upon its strong presence in major South American cities by entering new growth markets.
 "Recife is showing growth, both commercially and as a cultural center," said David Goldfein, director of marketing for ITT Sheraton's Latin America Division. "Our presence here reinforces the company's already strong coverage in Brazil's major tourist and business destinations and positions us to take advantage of future expansion plans in the country."
 Goldfein noted the improved air service to Recife and other Brazilian cities has added to their market potential.
 ITT Sheraton, with 13 properties throughout South America and Mexico, operates two other properties in Brazil, the 464-room Sheraton Rio Hotel & Towers in Rio de Janeiro and the 244-room Sheraton Mofarrej Hotel & Towers in downtown Sao Paulo. The Recife property opened yesterday.
 The company is currently studying opportunities for a second Sao Paulo project, as well as further development in the northeast coast cities of Fortaleza, Natal and Belem.
 Goldfein said its plans for Brazil are part of the company's overall objective to double the number of ITT Sheraton properties throughout South America and Mexico over the next five years.
 "For years, ITT Sheraton has been recognized as the industry leader in Latin America," said Goldfein. "We now intend to build upon our fine reputation with new development, as well as continual refurbishment of existing properties."
 The Sheraton Petribu Hotel in Recife offers a number of key features designed for business and leisure guests. The top floor of the 12-story hotel features an executive level with specially appointed rooms, private lounge and business center. There is over 6,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.
 Virtually all leisure facilities are available at the beachfront resort, with golf nearby. The hotel has four restaurants and lounges, a children's game room, and offers shuttle service to downtown Recife.
