ITT SHERATON CORPORATION NAMES ROBERT F. COTTER PRESIDENT, ASIA-PACIFIC DIVISION

 BOSTON, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Sheraton Corporation announced today that Robert F. Cotter, executive vice president, ITT Sheraton Corporation, director of marketing and product management, has been promoted to the position of president, Asia-Pacific Division, effective immediately, based in Hong Kong.

Cotter will report to John V. Giovenco, president and chief operating officer, ITT Sheraton Corporation.
 Cotter brings to the Asia-Pacific Division sales and marketing experience, including 18 years with ITT Sheraton in various parts of the world. In 1992, Cotter was named by Business Travel News as one of the 25 Most Influential Executives in the Business Travel Industry.

 Cotter joined ITT Sheraton in 1973 and held numerous sales and marketing positions, including director of sales at hotels in Los Angeles and Honolulu; area director of marketing for the company's hotels in Hawaii (1980-82); vice president-director of advertising for the then-Hawaii, Japan and Far East Division (1983-1985); and senior vice president-director of marketing for the Hawaii-Japan Division based in Honolulu (1985-1988). In 1988, Cotter was named director of Hotel Marketing for the corporation and relocated to World Headquarters in Boston. He was elected a vice president a year later. In June 1991, he was elected senior vice president, director, Marketing and Product Management and elected executive vice president earlier this year.


About ITT Sheraton's Asia-Pacific Division
 Established in 1985, ITT Sheraton's Asia-Pacific Division has since increased its strength from eight to 40 hotels. As a result of the rapid growth, the division was organized into the Asia and Pacific regions in 1988. The two regional offices, in Hong Kong and Brisbane respectively, report to the division's headquarters in Hong Kong.
 The Asia region has 27 hotels in 12 countries, while the Pacific has 13 properties in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji Islands.
 Twenty more hotels are scheduled to open in the Asia-Pacific countries within the next five years. Locations include Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Micronesia, Taiwan, China, French Polynesia, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands.
 ITT Sheraton has hotels in most major Asian cities. There are Towers floors in eight, including Singapore and Melbourne where an entire hotel is built around the Towers concept. Other all-Towers hotels will open in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Bangkok in 1995. The chain has Sheraton Towers in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, New Delhi, Seoul, Brisbane, Auckland, and Melbourne. Sheraton Towers Southgate in Melbourne opened last June. Sheraton Towers properties in Madras opened this year and Sheraton Towers in Bangalore will open in the future.
 ITT Sheraton's Asia-Pacific Division offers resort hotels at destinations such as Fiji Islands and Port Douglas, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast in Queensland in Australia, Sheraton Lagoon Nusa Dua Beach in Bali, Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort in Lombok and Sheraton Langkawi Resort in Malaysia.
 Newly opened is the deluxe Sheraton Grande Laguna Beach Resort on Bang Thao Bay in Phuket. Sheraton Manikar Resort on Labuan (East Malaysia) will open in June 1993. ITT Sheraton's Asia Pacific Division also has mid-priced Sheraton Inns in developing secondary cities such as Bandung and Lampung in Indonesia.
 ITT Sheraton has hotels in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, China, Seoul, Taipei, Brunai, Manila, and Dhaka. In China, Sheraton has five hotels: in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guilin, and Xian. In India, there are seven associated hotels managed by Welcomgroup in New Delhi, Bombay, Agra, Bangalore, Madras, and Jaipur.
 In Indonesia, ITT Sheraton plans to open 10 hotels within the next 10 years. The first four hotels are Sheraton Inn Lampung, Sheraton Inn Bandung, and Sheraton Lagoon Nusa Dua Beach in Bali, and Sheraton Sengiggi Beach Resort on the Island of Lombok. Legian beach resort in Bali will open in 1994. In addition, other ITT Sheraton-managed hotels in Indonesia are planned for Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Semarang and Batam.
 In addition, ITT Sheraton has signed a $110 million contract to manage a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Sheraton Towers Kuala Lumpur is a joint venture project in which ITT Sheraton has 50 percent equity. The hotel is scheduled for opening in 1996.
