ITT HARTFORD INSURANCE GROUP TO ADVANCE PAYMENT OF
$10 MILLION TO DADE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM
HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Hartford Insurance Group is advancing a $10 million claim payment today to the Dade County School system, which includes 278 schools and more than 300,000 students.
The money will be used, among other things, to help the school district construct temporary roofs and repair and replace mechanical systems and interiors in the hurricane-damaged schools. Many of the schools will be reopening on Monday, Sept. 14.
David Bradley, senior vice president of ITT Hartford, and members of ITT Hartford's claim department, today visited two of the damaged schools, the Holmes Braddock High School and the Jane Roberts Elementary School, both in Miami.
"We're extremely pleased that ITT Hartford has been so quick in responding to assist in the Dade County School system's rebuilding program. This will help us get back to our normal routine that much quicker," said Dr. Octavio Visiedo, Superintendent of the Dade County School system.
"Quickly responding to catastrophes and helping people rebuild their lives is one of the reasons we're in business," explained ITT Hartford's Bradley. "We're very happy to help the school system do the work necessary so that the schools can reopen," said Bradley.
ITT Hartford, a subsidiary of ITT Corp., is one of the nation's oldest and largest international insurance and financial services operations. Member companies offer commercial property and casualty insurance, automobile and homeowners coverages, and a variety of life insurance, employee benefit and asset management plans.
