ITT ELECTS KLAUS LEDERER AND THOMAS WALKER VICE PRESIDENTS

NEW YORK, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The election of Dr. Klaus G. Lederer and Thomas K. Walker as vice presidents of ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) was announced today by Rand V. Araskog, chairman, president and chief executive of ITT.
Dr. Lederer is president of ITT Automotive Europe headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany and Mr. Walker is president of ITT Automotive North America headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Both executives report directly to Timothy D. Leuliette, president and chief executive officer of ITT Automotive and senior vice president of ITT Corporation.
Earlier this month, ITT Automotive announced a realignment of its worldwide organization to strengthen its position in the reduced ranks of Tier One Automotive suppliers that are capable of competing on a global scale. Dr. Lederer and Mr. Walker assumed their current positions, heading two of ITT Automotive's three major operating groups, at that time.
Dr. Lederer joined ITT Automotive in 1992 as senior vice president of ITT Automotive and managing director of ITT Automotive Brake Systems. The group produces ITT Automotive Teves anti-lock, traction control and brake systems worldwide.
Dr. Lederer began his career as an industrial engineer with AEG Telefunken; headed Factory Planning and Production Technique functions at BMW AG; and headed a manufacturing plant. He was also chairman of Harris Graphics Corp., and a member of the board and chairman of Harris Corporation at Heidelberger Druckmaschinan AG.
He is a graduate of Stuttgart Technical University where he received a doctorate in engineering in 1977.
Mr. Walker started with ITT Automotive in 1992 as president of the Mechanical Systems and Components Group at ITT Automotive, Inc. which produces brake lines, fuel lines, quick connects and emission control components as well as seat structures, seat adjusters and body hardware. Prior to joining ITT Automotive, Mr. Walker held manufacturing and engineering positions at General Motors Corporation; manufacturing planning, plant manager, and general manager positions at Volkswagen of America; and was president and general manager of Allied-Signal's Automotive Catalyst Company.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University.
ITT Automotive, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is a $3.5 billion global supplier to the automotive industry that comprises eight product groups. They are Brake Systems, including ITT Automotive Teves anti-lock brakes, traction-control and total brake systems; Wiper Systems, including ITT Automotive SWF wipers, arms, blades and total wiper systems; Fluid Handling Systems; Precision Die Castings; Structural Components; Switches and Lamps; Electric Motors; and Aftermarket Products, including Koni shock absorbers and Aimco brake components.
ITT Corporation, with 1992 sales revenues of $21.7 billion, is a multinational enterprise engaged in four major business areas: ITT Financial and Business Services, ITT Manufactured Products, ITT Rayonier, and ITT Sheraton.
