ITRONIX EXPANDS PRODUCT LINE WITH GOBOOK Q-200.

Itronix Corp., a developer of wireless, rugged mobile computing solutions, has introduced the GoBook Q-200 handheld computer, the industry's first truly "ultra-rugged," advanced wireless handheld computing device. Designed to support mobile professionals who work in mission-critical environments such as field service and repair, inspection and service, public safety, telecommunications, utilities, insurance and federal and military environments, the ultra-rugged handheld is ergonomically designed and weighs 1.7 pounds with a high performance battery. The GoBook Q-200 supports up to three wireless networks concurrently, operates on the Microsoft Windows CE.NET operating system, and is powered by a 400-MHz Intel XScale processor. The GoBook Q-200, is backed by Itronix's iCare Implementation services.

"We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with Itronix where we've tested and deployed a number of their wireless, rugged mobile computing devices across our municipal mobile workforce. Hands-down, Itronix has the best customer service and builds the most advanced wireless mobile computing products available -- they build wireless solutions from the ground-up versus other players in the market that simply retrofit their rugged computing products to accommodate wireless," said Joel Hobson, technical services manager for City of Spokane. "The combination of the GoBook Q-200's extreme durability and superior wireless capabilities enables our parking violation officers, under any circumstance, to review records databases in real-time and respond accurately and quickly to criminal incidents."

Rugged Durability "Exceeds" Expectations

Rather than just "meeting" MilSpec 810F test standards for rugged durability, the Q-200 exceeds military test specifications which means it can withstand any environment that a mobile workforce will encounter, including rain, snow, water, wind, dust, shock, vibration, and chemical exposure. For example, a single Q-200 can withstand 26 repeated 4-foot drops onto plywood over concrete, whereas the standard test requirements for products that "meet" MilSpec 810F allow for up to five units to be used to pass 26 repeated 3-foot drops onto plywood over concrete. Additionally, the Q-200 will survive six drops from 2-meters to concrete.

In addition to drops, the Q-200 complies with an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP67 for dust and water penetration. If a user is constantly outdoors in the rain, needs to rinse off the device or drops the unit in a pool of water, the GoBook Q-200 will not be impacted as it can withstand being submerged in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes and also drenched with up to four inches of water per hour at approximately 40 pounds per square inch (PSI) for 40 minutes on each of its six axis.

Built with a die-cast magnesium casing and Xenoy high impact plastic for structural components, the GoBook Q-200 can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees to 60 degrees celcius (-4 degrees to 140 degrees fahrenheit) and can be stored at temperatures ranging from -51 degrees to 71 degrees Celsius (-60 degrees to 160 degrees fahrenheit).

"The GoBook Q-200 is, by far, the most rugged wireless handheld computer available in its class today -- it's specifically designed for mobile workers that require highly reliable and flexible wireless connectivity in a handheld computer that can withstand the harshest environments and handling day-in and day-out," said Matt Gerber, senior vice president for worldwide marketing and business development for Itronix. "Coupled with Itronix's unique ability to implement enterprise wireless solutions, the Q-200 gives users peace of mind -- mobile workers no longer have to worry about connecting from remote locations or losing their critical data from extreme and repeated drops, vibration, exposure to heat, cold, dust and water."

Reliable Wireless Connectivity and Investment Protection

Like the Itronix GoBook II wireless laptop and GoBook Tablet PC, the GoBook Q-200 is designed with integrated wireless communications that can concurrently support up to three different wireless networks, including a WiFi Protected Access (WPA) compliant 802.11b (wireless LAN), Bluetooth, and wireless WAN technologies such as CDMA 1xRTT and GPRS. This advanced wireless design and capability allows the user to maintain secure and seamless, wireless connectivity and communication while roaming from any location and under any circumstance. The tri-radio support can be configured for a variety of mission critical applications, such as automatic meter reading, asset management, inspections and field service management.

In addition to the tri-radio design, the Q-200 is the only wireless, rugged handheld that incorporates Itronix's Common Radio Module Architecture (CRMA), which offers users a guarantee on their wireless investment by enabling them to easily and cost effectively upgrade to new wireless technologies as they become available.

Powerful and Ergonomically Designed

Featuring the Intel 400-MHz XScale processor, the Q-200 also includes a 64-MB Compact Flash card standard and delivers up to 128 MB of SDRAM. With a compact size and weight of only 1.7 pounds with battery, the Q-200 includes a 3.8-inch shock- mounted 1/4 VGA reflective outdoor viewable display with a passive touch screen.

Ergonomically designed for ease of use and carrying, the Q-200 offers various options, including vehicle cradle and mounting capabilities, and multiple carrying options, such as a carrying case with shoulder strap or a belt mounted holster. In addition, the device is designed for easy integration with options and accessories, such as a barcode scanner.

Implementation Services

To ensure end-user satisfaction and provide companies with a single source for service and support, the GoBook Q-200 is backed by Itronix's iCare Implementation programs. The best end-to-end life cycle support available in the mobile computing industry, the iCare Implementation programs include project consulting, workforce management, asset management, application development, training, comprehensive deployment programs and help desk support, all designed to maximize mobile workforce productivity.
