ITALIAN RESTAURANT COMPANIES PLAN MERGER

BOSTON, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Hailed the restaurant growth vehicle for the '90s, America's appetite is growing for Italian food. A newly formed restaurant group is tapping further into this market by using years of combined Italian casual dining experience.
Capucino's (NASDAQ: CINO), a publicly held casual dining Italian restaurant chain, has entered into a letter of intent with Boston Restaurant Associates, owners and operators of Bel Canto and Pizzeria Regina Restaurants, by which the two companies will merge their operations.
John Polcari and George Chapdelaine, co-founders of Boston Restaurant Associates, comment that "three unique Italian concepts have come together." The newly formed restaurant group will share recipes and offer menus of Italian specialties made with fresh ingredients, prepared to order.
John Polcari of Boston's North End institution, Pizzeria Regina and chairman of Boston Restaurant Associates, says "The Polcari family has been involved in the fresh food and restaurant business since 1909 in the North End of Boston. My brother Anthony and I are proud to be a part of the growth and further development of Italian food in the Boston area. Capucino's, Bel Canto and Pizzeria Regina are all known for quality and freshness."
"Capucino's philosophy of quality foods, value pricing, superior service and peak efficiency will be at the root of this expansion," maintains Rex Seley, a founder and director of Capucino's.
As a result of the merger, the combined companies will have 12 restaurants in and around Boston. George Chapdelaine will be chief executive officer of the combined companies, and Capucino's will move its headquarters from Louisville, Ky., to Boston.
Capucino's was formed to develop, establish and operate a chain of full service Italian dinner house restaurants, featuring a wide selection of high quality Italian dishes at moderate prices.
For over 80 years the Polcari name has been synonymous with good food. John Polcari has been involved in numerous Boston area restaurants.
Capucino's is traded over the counter on NASDAQ and the symbol is CINO.
