ISO New England Elects Richard Abdoo and Paul Levy to Board of Directors; First ISO Chairman of the Board Retires.

 New England Inc., operator of the region's bulk power system and wholesale electricity markets, today announced the election of two new board members.

Richard A. Abdoo, former Chairman and CEO of Wisconsin Energy Corporation Wisconsin Energy Corporation (NYSE: WEC) is a company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that provides electricity and natural gas throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The company also has several non-regulated, non-utility branches. , and Paul F. Levy, President and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Both an international and regional referral center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts is a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. It was formed out of the 1996 merger of Beth Israel Hospital (founded in 1916) and , were officially named to the ISO New England Board of Directors today. They replace former Chairman, William W. Berry, and current Vice Chairman, Kenneth R. Leibler, both of whom will step down as board members.

"Both Dick and Paul will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to ISO New England and its stakeholder community as the industry continues the restructuring process here in the region."

Mr. Abdoo spent 29 years with Wisconsin Energy Corporation, rising through the ranks to become Chairman, President and CEO in 1991. Mr. Abdoo grew the organization into a Fortune 500 company through a series of mergers and acquisitions, as well as through increased products and services. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton The University of Dayton is one of the ten largest Catholic schools in the United States and is the largest of the three Marianist universities in the nation. It is also home to one of the largest campus ministry programs in the world.  and a master's degree in Economics from the University of Detroit.

Since 2002, Mr. Levy has been the President and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School Harvard Medical School (HMS) is one of the graduate schools of Harvard University. It is a prestigious American medical school located in the Longwood Medical Area of the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. , with clinical and research revenues in excess of $1 billion. Prior to this, Mr. Levy was an Executive Dean for Administration at Harvard Medical School, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) is a public authority in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provides wholesale drinking water and sewage services to certain municipalities and industrial users in the state, primarily in the Boston area. , and Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. He holds bachelor's degrees in Economics and Urban Studies/Planning and a master's degree in City Planning, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business, .

Upon the election of the new board members, Mr. Berry, the first ISO Board Chairman, and Mr. Leibler will retire from ISO New England's Board. "I have had the honor and privilege of serving with both Bill and Ken since the inception of ISO New England in 1997," said O'Reilly. "Both were instrumental in guiding the ISO through a very challenging period for the industry. We will miss their insight and intellect, and I speak for the entire Board when I wish them well today and in the future."

, ISO New England elects its board members through a nominating process that involves representatives from the ISO New England Board, the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) and the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners. The nominating process took place earlier this year and included an endorsement vote by the NEPOOL Participants Committee.
