ISLAMIC RELIEF SENDS $20,000 TO TURKEY.

Burbank's aerospace industry collapsed with the end of the Cold War.  sent $20,000 to Turkey for earthquake victims and will continue raising funds until it achieves its $100,000 goal, officials said Monday.

The first payment was sent soon after the earthquake hit, said Abdel Salam, computer director for the agency's relief effort.

The $20,000 came from the agency's general fund, he said. But officials will continue raising money through dinners and other events. In addition to the $20,000 that was sent, $25,000 more has been raised. The $100,000 should be attainable at·tain

Islamic Relief has 20 offices around the world, and the closest one to Turkey is in Germany, Salam said. Staffers from that office have set up camp in Adapazari, a Turkish city of 200,000 people where at least 3,000 residents died and 7,000 more were injured in·jure
