ISE Reports Monthly Volume for October 2005; Volume Increases 43.3%; Sets New Monthly Record.

NEW YORK -- The International Securities Exchange (NYSE:ISE) today reported average daily trading volumes for equity and index options contracts for October 2005. Average daily trading volume increased 43.3% to a new monthly record of 2.3 million contracts per day as compared to 1.6 million contracts per day during the same period in the prior year. Total equity and index options volume for the month increased 43.3% to a record 48.8 million contracts from 34.1 million contracts in the same year-ago period.

On a year-to-date basis, average daily trading volume of equity and index options increased 24.9% to 1.8 million contracts traded as compared to 1.4 million contracts traded in the prior year. Total equity and index volume for the first nine months of 2005 increased 25.5% to 367.8 million contracts from 293.1 million contracts in the same period last year.

Monthly Highlights

--ISE established a new monthly average daily volume trading record of 2.3 million contracts and new monthly record of 48.8 million contracts traded.

--ISE was the largest U.S. equity options exchange in October.

--On October 26, 2005, ISE's total 2005 trading volume surpassed total trading volume for the entire year of 2004 by 404,672 contracts.

--On October 20, 2005, the ISE announced that it will be offering an enhanced version of the ISE Sentiment Index(R) (ISEE(R)) early next year. The enhanced ISEE will allow subscribers to identify bullish and bearish investor sentiment for any issue traded on the ISE, including ISE proprietary and licensed indices and customized sectors.

--ISE traded more volume in 562 of 770 issues in its listings than any other options exchange.
