ISCP Intelligent Network Solutions Software First to Meet All ETSI Specifications.

PISCATAWAY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1997--Sponsors of the ISCP Intelligent Network Solutions announce the general availability of SCP software which meets the international ITU-T based standards. The ISCP software, with its open interfaces, is the first to meet all 29 interface operations sets of the ITU-T based ETSI Core INAP standards for international networks. Sponsoring companies of the ISCP product include Bell Atlantic, Pacific Bell, and Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and Bellcore as the product developer.

The ISCP Core INAP software is developed with open interfaces to support a global trend of building a network using a multiple vendor environment. Completing the interoperability with compatible network elements, the ISCP software now is compatible with all ETSI-defined scenarios for interaction with intelligent peripherals (IPs), as well as a variety of new and existing operating systems and databases.

The new feature enhancements for the ISCP release include additional support for communication with switches and IPs, national language support, a network surveillance interface, support for mass market services, new feature interaction management tools, and additional security enhancements.

Bellcore has tested the ISCP product for compatibility with several vendors SSPs including Siemens, Nokia and Ericsson.

This release of the ISCP software allows network service providers to deploy new intelligent network services rapidly, thereby generating revenue in a fraction of the time it takes to develop and deploy switch-based service. Complementing the goals of the intelligent network, the ISCP systems minimize the cost of new service introductions.

The SPACE(R) system is the ISCP service creation and provisioning component that enables providers to control end-to-end service development, testing, and provisioning. A graphical user interface (GUI), with point and click icons and simple text, enables network service providers to create and manage customized services.

The ISCP solution also supports a configurable numbering plan feature -- a function for processing country specific telephone numbers allowing for the various dialing patterns to be recognized by the ISCP software.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is an international organization with which governments and the private sector coordinate global telecom networks and services. As the standards setting body for international networks, the ITU defined a list of recommendations or protocols for intelligent networks, called Capability Set 1 (CS-1). The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) further defined a subset of functionality called Core INAP.

The Core INAP specifications have been accepted by service network providers, switch vendors and the network element manufacturers. The Core INAP protocol is an open interface that allows for the interoperability of switches and SCPs and other network elements from different suppliers.

The Core INAP protocol consists of 29 different operations. The ISCP software is the first that fully complies with all 29 messages or operations.

-- Support for Interaction with a Hand-off SSP - This feature provides support for interaction with a SRF through a Hand-off SSP. Hand-off interaction terminates call control connection to the originating SSP before establishing call connection to the Hand-off SSP. The SRF may or may not be integrated with the Hand-off SSP.

-- Multiple Application Context Name - This enhancement makes it possible for the ISCP to interact with SSPs or switches in the network having different levels of implementation of the ETSI Core INAP protocol.

-- National Language Support - This feature provides improvements to the interpretation of display elements (e.g. date and time) on the SPACEr service creation environment and the Data and Reports System (DRS) and provides locale- based display element support on the Maintenance and Operations Console (MOC).

-- Network Surveillance Interface - This enhancement provides an interface from ISCP Node-based systems to surveillance systems. This two-way communications path will allow monitoring of multiple ISCP components from a single workstation on a centralized surveillance system.

-- Mass Market Services CPR - This enhancement makes it possible to easily provision multiple services to a single subscriber without migration.

-- Feature Interaction Management - This feature provides Service Creators with some tools to manage multiple services in a mass market environment. It facilitates the creation and management of services that are created independently but interact with each other. This has the effect of simplifying the introduction of new services.

1. Application Audit Trail. This feature provides logging of

commands entered at the command line.

2. Flexible User Accounts. This feature allows the creation of

user accounts with various OS and application privileges.

3. System Audit Trail. This feature provides system-level audit

capability.
