Formed in 1989, (ISC)2 was the first information security certification body and maintains the most rigorous standards in the industry today. Its professional certifications are vendor-neutral and require validated industry experience and a wide breadth of knowledge found in its CBK([R]), a taxonomy of information security topics. The organization developed its certification program to meet the needs of professionals throughout their careers and includes the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP([R])) and related concentrations, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP([R])), and Certification and Accreditation Professional (CAP([R])).
"We are honored to receive this inaugural award from SC Magazine, and see it as a tribute to the visionary pioneers who formed our organization and who played a critical role in setting the standards for the information security profession as it exists today," said Ed Zeitler, CISSP, executive director of (ISC)2. "(ISC)2's certifications have helped organizations worldwide secure the enterprise by providing information security professionals with validated knowledge and experience."
(ISC)2 and other 2008 SC Magazine Professional Award winners were marked for distinction by a panel of 17 leading chief security officers from major corporations and large public sector organizations. With more than 600 entries submitted in 20 technology categories, the 2008 SC Magazine Awards proved to be the most competitive in the program's 10-year history.
"SC Magazine's distinguished panel of award judges selected (ISC)2 for this Professional Award for their positive contributions to the world of IT security," said SC Magazine Editor Illena Armstrong. "(ISC)2 is a proven leader, helping make today's businesses more secure."
