IRT SHIPS SECURE 1000(TM) TO EUROPE: SCHLUMBERGER INDUSTRIES TO
 DEMONSTRATE NEW ADVANCED SECURITY TECHNOLOGY
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- IRT Corp. (AMEX: IX) announced today that it has shipped a SECURE 1000 Personnel Security Scanner to Schlumberger Industries Security Department located in Rungis, France. The system will be used to demonstrate the product's capabilities to potential purchasers throughout Europe and to support evaluation and certification by the French government.
IRT and Schlumberger have executed a letter of intent providing for Schlumberger to distribute the SECURE 1000 Personnel Security Scanner in Europe, as well as portions of the Middle East and the Pacific-Asia regions. The parties will further define their distribution agreement upon completion of the system demonstration and certification program, which is expected to occur over the next several months.
"We have had significant interest in the SECURE 1000 from potential European users," said Vicki L. Foote, senior vice president, New Business Development at IRT Corp. "We are extremely pleased to have Schlumberger Industries, with its outstanding reputation in the international security market, introducing this product in Europe."
"SECURE 1000, with its unique detection capabilities, will offer our security customers the opportunity to achieve a new level of effectiveness in their screening processes for weapons, explosives and narcotics detection," said Gerard Mala, marketing manager for Schlumberger Industries Security Department.
The SECURE 1000 Personnel Security Scanner offers security inspectors an effective new tool which significantly advances the state of the art available in access-control personnel screening. The system detects a wide range of objects, including firearms, drugs and explosives without submitting people to time-consuming and uncomfortable "pat-downs" or "strip searches." After a three second scan, the SECURE 1000 displays a computer-generated image pinpointing the location of any metallic or nonmetallic object concealed on the individual.
IRT Corp. is a major world-wide supplier of computerized x-ray machine-vision systems used for manufacturing inspection and security. The company also offers radiation processing services for commercial applications. Company headquarters are located in San Diego.
