IRT INTRODUCES THE CXI-3300V IN-LINE PROCESS MONITOR; HIGHER

THROUGHPUT IN-LINE SOLUTION FOR PRODUCTION X-RAY PROCESS CONTROL
SAN DIEGO, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- IRT Corp. (AMEX: IX) today announced the latest addition to the company's line of advanced in- line x-ray inspection systems for process control in electronics production lines, using surface mount technology (SMT). The new CXI-3300V In-Line Process Monitor(TM) extends the capability of in- line x-ray systems by offering 20 percent higher throughput than the base CXI-3300 system and a simplified production control interface. Both advances are derived from a new VME-based computer architecture introduced in the system.
"The CXI-3300V continues IRT's leadership in price/performance for production x-ray systems," said Edward W. Soron, senior vice president and general manager. "The CXI-3300 was fast; the CXI-3300V is 20 to 25 percent faster, a key criteria in high-volume applications where high throughput is the strongest economic factor in equipment purchasing decisions."
The CXI-3300V offers the benefits of real-time x-ray technology to those who have been limited to vision-based solutions for in-line inspection and process control. By offering high-speed production x-ray process control in an integrated pass-through system, the CXI- 3300V makes the greater detection capability of automated x-ray technology available to many more manufacturers.
The CXI-3300V brings high-speed, state-of-the-art x-ray technology to high-volume, hands-off circuit board manufacturing, particularly in applications needing high resolution x-ray imaging to solve unique SMT inspection problems. Applications include inspection of electronic assemblies or components such as solder paste, fine-pitch SMT, surface mount pad arrays and double-sided assemblies.
IRT's CXI-3300V features advanced microfocus imaging for high resolution applications. Further, the CXI-3300V employs a new multiple-processor VME computer, implementing IRT's unique parallel image processing environment to provide very high-speed production inspection.
IRT makes computerized x-ray machine-vision systems used for manufacturing inspection and security and offers radiation processing services for commercial applications. The company is based in San Diego.
