IRSG to appoint Secretary-General.

Applications are invited for the post of Secretary-General of the International Rubber Study Group, a London-based intergovernmental organization concerned with the natural and synthetic rubber and related industries.

Candidates must have a recognized university degree or equivalent qualifications, preferably at Masters level. Knowledge of the synthetic and natural rubber and related industries, demonstrated by senior executive experience of the elastomer industry, either directly through commercial organizations concerned with research and development, production, manufacture or marketing, or indirectly through government ministries or other organizations, is essential.

Personal attributes required include fluent written and spoken English, integrity, impartiality and the ability to work effectively with senior officials in governments, international organizations and the world rubber industry.

Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills. They must possess the administrative and interpersonal skills necessary to run an international organization, including knowledge of intergovernmental relations and the organization of international conferences. The hands-on abilities required to guide and motivate a small, specialist staff are also essential. A reasonable level of computer literacy is also required.

The Secretary-General is the chief executive officer of the IRSG, and is responsible through an executive committee for all aspects of policy, finance and administration. Terms and conditions of service are established by the IRSG and broadly applicable to other United Nations and commodity organizations based in London.
