Such information returns are filed electronically via the IRS's Information Reporting Program-Bulletin Board System (IRP-BBS IRP-BBS Information Reporting Program Bulletin Board System ). IRP-BBS provides users with access to electronic filing and other common electronic bulletin board services. It makes available forms and publications, provides news on information-return filing and allows users to leave questions and messages on the bulletin board. The IRP-BBS can be reached via modem modem [modulator/demodulator], an external device or internal electronic circuitry used to transmit and receive digital data over a communications line normally used for analog signals. at (304) 263-2749. Phone lines are open 24 hours a day, except for maintenance time. Information about the IRP-BBS program and requirements for software and modems are provided in IRS publicationb 1527.
