IRR to supervise suspension train project in Najaf.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Republic Railways Company (IRR), the national railway operator in Iraq, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to supervise a suspension train project in Najaf province.

"The project will be crucial in transporting people inside the province during religious occasions," a statement released by the Iraqi Ministry of Transportation and received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency quoted Najaf's governor, Adnan al-Zarfi, as saying.

The project will be carried out by a Canadian company, the statement explained.

The train will travel at a speed of 90-120 km per hour, it added.
