IREM issues fresh call for aid to help support relief efforts.Responding to the catastrophic devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina IREM Institute of Real Estate Managers IREM Integrated Research, Evaluation, and System Analysis Model IREM Infra-Red Emission Microscopy [R]) is appealing to its members and staff to contribute to the IREM Foundation to support ongoing hurricane relief efforts. Donations, which are tax deductible, are being accepted on the IREM Web site, as well as via fax and regular mail. According to IREM President Tony Smith, CPM[R], 100% of the money collected by the IREM Foundation will be channeled to individuals, families, IREM members and relief agencies based on the severity of their needs. "Moreover," Smith said, "IREM members have offered to provide colleagues in hurricane ravaged rav·age v. rav·aged, rav·ag·ing, rav·ages v.tr. 1. To bring heavy destruction on; devastate: A tornado ravaged the town. 2. areas who will be forced to relocate with jobs, housing and other support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services ." Independently, IREM headquarters staff also is contributing to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts through the McCormick Tribune Foundation in Chicago. IREM has posted links on its Web site to IREM[R] resources that provide pre- and post-hurricane-related information for its members and others in the real estate community. "Long term," Smith added, "we will be updating our action plans to help IREM and its members more effectively address community and member needs when other disasters occur." |
