IRAN - Sept. 27 - Revolutionary Guard Blamed For Unrest.
The National Security Council expresses regret over August's
unrest in the western city of Khorramabad. 'IRNA' says a
report by the National Security Council reported members of the
Revolutionary Guards and the volunteer Basij militia were involved in
the unrest and legal action should be taken against them. The National
Security Council, which is headed by the reformist Interior Minister
Abdolvahed Mousavi-Lari, also says that more than 60 police and security
officials were injured in the violence. (Earlier August, the reformist
government rejected an official judiciary report that laid the blame for
the unrest in Khorramabad on the country's large pro-reform student
group. The week of unrest began after right wing vigilantes prevented 2
prominent reformists from attending a student meeting in Khorramabad.)
