IR's New 30V HEXFET(r) MOSFETs Deliver 1.5% Improvement in Light-Load DC-DC Buck Converter Applications.EL SEGUNDO El Segundo (ĕl sēgŭn`dō), industrial city (1990 pop. 15,223), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1917. Its products include navigation and computer systems, aircraft parts, office machines, telephone apparatus, and , Calif. -- International Rectifier International Rectifier Corp. (NYSE: IRF) is a manufacturer of power semiconductors (MOSFET, IGBT, diodes and thyristors), located in El Segundo, California, USA. It has a market capitalization of 2.48 billion USD and is listed on the S&P Midcap 400. , IR(r) (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :IRF IRF Interferon Regulatory Factor IRF International Religious Freedom IRF Institut for Rationel Farmakoterapi (German) IRF Inherited Rights Filter (Novell) IRF Inherited Rights Filter ), a world leader in power management technology, today introduced the IRF7835PbF and IRF7836PbF, 30V synchronous buck HEXFET HEXFET Hexagonal Field Effect Transistor (r) MOSFETs for DC-DC DC-DC Direct Current to Direct Current (power conversion) synchronous point-of-load (POL) converters. The SO-8 synchronous MOSFETs are designed for applications where requirements of small size, high efficiency and improved thermal conduction thermal conduction Transfer of heat energy resulting from differences in temperature between adjacent bodies or adjacent parts of a body. In the absence of a heat pump, the energy will flow from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature. resulting in increased power density are desired, such as notebook microprocessor power supplies and point-of-load (POL) converters used in high-end servers, as well as advanced telecom and datacom systems. Reducing total gate charge (Qg) up to 25%, optimizing the body diode losses and maintaining similar on resistance performance as previous devices, improves critical light-load efficiency in battery-operated systems by as much as 1.5%. The new IRF7835PbF targets the latest generation of mobile processors requiring a thermal design current of 35 amps from a two-phase voltage regulator using one control and two synchronous MOSFETs per phase. The device may be used in applications up to 11A per MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged . The new IRF7836PbF is designed for power rails using a single control and a single synchronous MOSFET, and may be used in applications up to 9A per MOSFET. "The new 30V HEXFET devices offer low on resistance and gate charge, ideally suited for point-of-load synchronous buck converter applications between six and 11 amps per MOSFET. The low conduction losses improve full-load efficiency and thermal performance while the low switching losses help to achieve high efficiency even at light loads," said Jeff Sherman, senior marketing manager of IR's Portable Computing Solutions. These devices are RoHS-compliant. Data sheets are posted on the International Rectifier Web site, http://www.irf.com/whats-new/nr060509.html Availability and Pricing The new 30V HEXFET MOSFETs are available immediately. Pricing is as follows, in US dollars and 10,000-unit quantities: IRF7835 synchronous FET FET: see transistor. (Field Effect Transistor) One of two major categories of transistor; the other is bipolar. FETs use a gate element that, when charged, creates an electromagnetic field that changes the conductivity of a silicon : $0.76 each, IRF7836 synchronous FET: $0.65 each. Prices are subject to change. About International Rectifier International Rectifier (NYSE:IRF) is a world leader in power management technology.
