IQ SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES THIRD QUARTER RESULTS

 ATLANTA, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- IQ Software (NASDAQ: IQSW) today reported results for its third quarter ended Oct. 31.
 Revenues were a record $5,363,000, up 34 percent from revenues of $4,013,000 for the comparable period in fiscal 1993. Net income from continuing operations for the third quarter was $789,000 compared to $692,000 for the same period of the prior year. Net income per share from continuing operations was $0.19 on 4,226,000 shares outstanding and was $0.20 per share on 3,434,000 shares outstanding for the corresponding period in fiscal 1993.
 For the nine months ended Oct. 31, revenues were $13,549,000, up 25 percent from $10,799,000 in the prior year. Net income from continuing operations for the nine months ended Oct. 31 was $1,685,000 or $0.40 per share vs. $1,656,000 or $0.50 per share in the prior year.
 Mike Casey, vice president Finance, stated that: "Our financial results represent solid performance from all our distribution segments -- OEM, End User, Federal and International. The results reflect the initial acceptance of IQ for Windows, the Microsoft Windows version of the company's flagship product Intelligent Query." IQ for Windows began shipping in April of this year.
 The company also announced that it has released IQ for Motif. This is the initial release of Intelligent Query for the popular Unix graphical environment. "We expect IQ for Motif to be a strong first release," said Rick Chitty, CEO of IQ Software. IQ for Motif contains all the functionality of the most recent release of Intelligent Query, a number of Motif specific enhancements, and several improvements taken from our initial experience with IQ for Windows.
 IQ Software designs, develops, markets, and supports a family of data access, analysis and custom report writing products. These products are sold by a direct sales force to corporate and government customers and by more than 850 software developers and vertical market resellers. International distribution is handled by over 50 distributors and by international subsidiaries.
