IPG Photonics Promotes Bill Shiner to Vice President of Industrial Markets.

OXFORD, Mass. -- IPG Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: IPGP), the leader in high-performance fiber lasers for diverse applications, today announced the promotion of Bill Shiner to Vice President of Industrial Markets. Mr. Shiner will serve on IPG's management team and will be responsible for further developing IPG's industrial sales and fostering customer loyalty worldwide.

Since graduating from Northeastern University with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration, Mr. Shiner has achieved many notable accomplishments in both the business and academic communities. In 1973, Mr. Shiner co-founded Laser Inc., which was later acquired in 1980 by Coherent Inc. Bill remained with Coherent in their Industrial Division until 1995 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Bill then became Chief Operating Officer at Convergent Prima until 2002, when he joined IPG Photonics.

Mr. Shiner is involved as a leader of multiple industry organizations and is chairman and co-chairman of numerous technical conferences. Mr. Shiner is the 2007 President of the Laser Institute of America (LIA), and previously has been a member of its executive board. Additionally, Bill is on the Photonic Spectra editorial advisory board. Mr. Shiner has authored numerous articles and presentations on industrial lasers and applications. He co-authored "Lasers, Operation, Application and Design," which was published by McGraw Hill.
