"The Austin Affinity Server line has been designed to meet the IS customers' most pressing needs: quality and reliability," says David Scull, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "We have succeeded in developing an exceptional departmental server by listening to customers and including the finest features available plus exceptional storage potential at a price point well below any competitive product."

Buyers of the Austin Affinity servers will have a choice of three models: the flagship Austin Affinity XE, the mid-range Austin Affinity XR, and the value-oriented Austin Affinity SE. The XE and XR are housed in an IPCT designed and patented chassis, one of the most sophisticated available. This advanced design allows for up to 12 hard drives to be mounted in a comparatively small space and the installation of as many as six cooling fans (two of which are thermostat-controlled). The internal temperature of the Austin Affinity will measure just 4 degrees above ambient. IPCT also designed the high performance SCA (Single Connector Attachment) An 80-pin plug and socket used to connect peripherals. With a SCSI drive, it rolls three cables (power, data channel and ID configuration) into one connector for fast installation and removal.  backplane and drive management electronics for extreme reliability. The IPCT authored Austin Affinity Server Management software is written to work in conjunction with the Mylex Global Management RAID software and Novell Netware (operating system, networking) Novell NetWare - Novell, Inc.'s proprietary networking operating system for the IBM PC.

NetWare uses the IPX/SPX, NetBEUI or TCP/IP network protocols. It supports MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, OS/2, Macintosh and Unix clients.
. It also allows users to monitor network statistics from a workstation using the convenience of a Windows interface, and its alert notification / event logging is user configurable, allowing for remote disk recovery on RAID systems.

"We designed the Austin Affinity line after exhaustively researching competitive products," says Mark Landrum, Product Manager--Advanced Servers. "Because of this, our Austin Affinity Servers are the most reliable in the industry."
