 IONICS ANNOUNCES FOUR PROMOTIONS TO VICE PRESIDENT
 WATERTOWN, Mass., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Ionics, Incorporated


(NYSE: ION) announced the promotion of four individuals to vice president.
 Alan M. Crosby, 39, has been named vice president, Corporate Quality Programs and Watertown Operations. Crosby holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Tufts University and a masters degree in business administration from Babson College and joined Ionics as a field engineer in 1978. For the past four years, he has served as operations manager.
 Edward P. Geishecker, 55, has been named vice president, United States and Canada Sales and Marketing, Water Systems division. Geishecker holds a bachelor of science degree from University of Connecticut and a master of science degree from Ohio State University and joined Ionics as sales engineer in 1967. For the past 15 years, he has served as U.S. national manager.
 Patrick K. Lam, 52, has been named vice president, Project Management and International Subsidiaries. Lam holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic and a degree in electrical engineering from Brunel College of Technology (U.K.) and joined Ionics in 1979 as assistant international marketing manager. For the past eight years, he has served as manager of Engineering and Operations.
 Ark W. Pang, 42, has been named vice president, International Sales and Marketing, Water Systems division. Pang holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from City College of New York and joined Ionics in 1981 as area manager Far East. For the past four years he has been director of international marketing.
 Commenting on the promotions, Arthur L. Goldstein, Ionics' chairman and chief executive officer, stated that each of the new vice presidents had made important contributions in their respective areas which had significantly impacted the recent growth of the company. The leadership of Ionics in the field of water purification and supply is directly related to the contributions of these individuals, he noted.
 Ionics is a separations technology company involved in the worldwide manufacture and sale of membranes and related equipment for the purification of water, in the supply of purified water and water treatment chemicals, and in the sale of bottled water and home water purifiers.
