INX Interoperable Radio Communications Technology Implemented at New Mexico State Fair.
The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, in partnership with INX, implemented and demonstrated the technology to provide interoperability capabilities during the New Mexico State Fair. The solution creates seamless radio interoperability between public safety officers and the fair's private security by using a proprietary application service to bridge radio frequencies used by different agencies. The overall solution allows hand-held radios to communicate with any voice-enabled device including two-way radios, cellular phones and desktop telephones.
"Interoperability is one of the department's top priorities," said John Martinez, Acting Deputy State Director, New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "The State Fair is a high-profile event that attracts many people, so it's critical that we have communication systems in place to help keep fairgoers safe and secure."
"The ability for government agencies to communicate with private security personnel in a seamless, integrated manner is a valuable tool that supports the mission to protect the public," Joel Hutton, Senior Director of INX Product Development commented on the success of the deployment. "INX was excited to demonstrate the technology in a real life mobile multi agency environment. We were able to use the technology in real time in the event of an emergency."
The turnkey solution included technology and components from Cisco Systems, Cistera Networks, and Link Communication. This multi vendor solution enabled additional features and functionalities such as call recording.
"Cistera is extremely adept at solving complex interoperability dilemmas," said Greg Royal, Cistera's CTO and EVP of Cistera. "Our proprietary Quality Assurance and Compliance Solution is unique because it offers the ability to record and archive radio communication. This is extremely important, not only during a crisis, but afterwards so post-event analysis can be used for training purposes. The recordings are also valuable when facing legal or liability issues. It is just another layer of protection to verify that an organization is fulfilling its obligations during an emergency situation."
