Trailing 20-13, second-seeded Los Angeles marched 60 yards in the final four minutes of the game and scored when Terrion Ware connected with Chris Humes on a 7-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to one.

However, Valencia broke through the right side of the Los Angeles offensive line on the extra-point try and took Salazar's kick into the stomach to preserve the lead.

``I have been with the Canoga Park football team since I was in fifth grade,'' said Valencia, who also caught four passes for 40 yards. ``I used to be their water boy and everything.

``This is my senior year, so I have to do whatever I can to make sure we win. No matter where I am put, I always try to give it my best.''

Despite allowing Los Angeles to take a 7-0 lead with less then a minute to play in the first half, Canoga Park regrouped and was able to put together a quick drive to take a 7-7 tie at the break.

The drive, which saw Canoga Park gain 67 yards in 21 seconds on four plays, ended with James Egan James Egan (born 1929) is an Australian artist. He is highly respected for his work in the Australian community and is recognized as one of Australia’s best painters.  catching a 32-yard touchdown pass from Tony Egues with seven seconds left.

Egan, who caught four passes for 61 yards, picked off right where he left off in the second half, returning the opening kickoff 71 yards to put Canoga Park at Los Angeles' 17-yard line, leading to Valencia's 4-yard TD.

Egues completed 12 of 24 passes for 154 yards, and Emmanuel Butler rushed for 65 yards on 16 carries and scored in a 1-yard touchdown for Canoga Park.

Ware finished with 76 yards on 9-of-15 passing for Los Angeles.

--Locke 21, North Hollywood 9: Visiting Locke of Los Angeles (3-8) scored two touchdowns in the final four minutes to beat host North Hollywood (5-5-1).

North Hollywood had its chances to put the game away but failed to convert on two fourth downs, the Downs, The, roadstead, c.8 mi (13 km) long and 6 mi (9.7 km) wide, between North Foreland and South Foreland, off Deal, Kent, SE England, in the English Channel. It is protected, except from strong south winds, by the Goodwin Sands and the coast.  first of which came on the team's first possession of the second half.

The Huskies drove from their own 7-yard line to the Locke 3. But on fourth-and-goal, Marlon Lucky (20 carries, 122 yards) was stopped after a 1-yard gain, turning the ball over on downs.

Later in the quarter, North Hollywood faced a fourth-and-7 on its own 45. Choosing to go for it instead of punting, the plan backfired when quarterback William Cowan People named William Cowan include:

--Fremont 24, Cleveland 6: Eliseo Yniguez plunged in from 1 yard for Cleveland of Reseda's only score as the Cavaliers (5-6) struggled offensively in a loss at Fremont of Los Angeles.

Clyde Griffin, Yniguez and Joey Morales combined to rush for 140 yards on 33 carries for Cleveland.

Morales caught four passes for 37 yards. Teammate Vernon Catlin had three receptions for 38 yards.

David Contreras completed 8 of 18 passes for 83 yards with two interceptions.

Fremont (7-3-1) will be without 6-foot-9, 300-pound Thomas Herring Thomas Herring (1693-23 March 1757) was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1747 to 1757.

--South Gate 28, Monroe 14: Monroe of North Hills (6-5) scored the first and last touchdowns of the game but in between made too many mistakes in a first-round loss.

Daniel Sanjines caught the first touchdown pass, a 32-yarder from Rashaad Richards. The Monroe offense struggled thereafter and had four passes intercepted, lost a fumble, and had both a punt and an extra-point kick blocked.

Monroe showed signs when Sergio Sicarios scored on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter. He finished with 56 yards rushing and 23 yards receiving.

Teammate Cuong Pham caught two passes, including the game's longest, a 52-yarder.

Marco Vasquez gained 141 yards on 22 carries for South Gate and scored three of the four touchdowns.

--Franklin 48, Verdugo Hills 32: Ryen Carew rushed for 167 yards on 26 carries and scored four touchdown, but Verdugo Hills of Tujunga (5-6) lost its first-round game at Franklin of Highland Park Highland Park.

Verdugo Hills opened the scoring when Carew scored his first touchdown from 9 yards out. He also had touchdown runs of 1, 26 and 10 yards.

Teammate Greg Byrum completed 6 of 13 passes for 59 yards, including a 45-yard pass to Anthony Herdliska.

Brian Torres rushed for 155 yards on 14 carries and had two touchdowns for Franklin (7-5).
