 Hotel Investors, Inc. has bought the 130-room Hampton Inn in Newhall for $8.25 million.

In January, Sunstone recently acquired the new neighboring Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn properties.

He said the company's growth strategy is to maximize shareholder value by acquiring under-performing hotels in the western United States that are in attractive locations, but not easily accessible. The plan involves improving financial performance by renovating, redeveloping, re-branding and repositioning the hotels together with the implementation of focused sales and marketing programs.

Through Sunstone Hotel Investors, L.P., the company owns or has invested in a total of 60 hotels comprising 10,837 rooms. Alter said also that Sunstone's business strategy is to own luxury, upscale and mid-price hotels with revenue growth opportunities in strong Western U.S. markets.
