Evaluations are based on three major categories, functionality, ease of use and editorial content. Mutual fund Web sites were found to be superior to insurance providers (Rankings released May 8, 2000). While only four insurers qualified for an Excellent DALBAR rating for consumers and none for financial professionals, twelve mutual fund consumer and two professional sites qualified for Excellent ratings. Like insurers, however, mutual funds are supporting consumers far more effectively than the support provided to professionals.
