Web sites. The mutual fund industry's best 25 Web sites are selected for monitoring. Evaluations are based on three major categories, functionality, ease of use and editorial content.

Mutual fund Web sites were found to be superior to insurance providers (Rankings released May 8, 2000). While only four insurers qualified for an Excellent DALBAR rating for consumers and none for financial professionals, twelve mutual fund consumer and two professional sites qualified for Excellent ratings. Like insurers, however, mutual funds are supporting consumers far more effectively than the support provided to professionals.

Mutual fund companies are generally very strong in functionality and ease of use but falter on editorial content. "It is the frequency of updating and quality of content that separates the best from the rest" said Louis Louis, titular duke of Burgundy
