INTRAFED LISTED AS NO. 1 'PURE' IMAGING VAR IN COUNTRY BY IMAGING MAGAZINE

WASHINGTON, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- For year-end 1993, INTRAFED, Inc. has topped the list of Imaging Magazine's "Pure" Imaging Value- Added Resellers (VARs). Pure imaging VARs are those value-added resellers and integrators that are devoted exclusively to imaging- related products and peripherals, according to Andy Moore, Imaging Magazine's editor-in-chief.
In the overall rankings, in which the magazine included a total of 74 companies that carried other product lines in addition to imaging- related technologies, INTRAFED came in 3rd place in the country.
"For an independent magazine to begin stacking players within this most important integration channel for imaging products and for INTRAFED to come in the top slot, it certainly testifies to our ability to get into the trenches with our customers and deliver imaging systems that make this industry grow," said Jeff M. Meshinsky, director of business development for INTRAFED. "If we weren't developing, integrating and placing systems in the field that provided successful results each and every time they were placed, then we wouldn't be at the top of the heap," said Meshinsky.
Meshinsky added, "Imaging Magazine's recognition of the VAR channel in this exploding industry, and by further ranking these participants in the VAR channel, also illustrates the great importance that VARs will play in imaging as placed against distributors and direct-sell channels."
Moore of Imaging Magazine agreed, stating: "The industry trend is definitely towards the VAR channel and away from direct channels and cataloguers, mail houses or turn-n-burn distributors. Many end-users do not want to buy from distributors, since the final integration and installation is left to do, warranty and maintain by themselves. And let's face it, it's too scary to be left to do it by yourself.
"End-users want a VAR to put imaging on top of what they've already got, make it invisible and put it under the covers," said Moore, adding, "Only the VARs can do this and do it successfully. Most of them have the hard-learned experience and the black-eyes and scuffed elbows to show for it."
Meshinsky added, "As we move towards a paperless society, it's these top VARs listed in Imaging Magazine that are going to take us there."
