INTERSHOP Online Is Now the First Virtual Storefront to Offer Central Technologies' New Automated Accounting System; iNet.Accounting Server to Provide State-of-the-Art Back Office Extension, Accounting and Reporting Functions to INTERSHOP Users.

BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 1996--NetConsult Communications, a leading global developer of Internet shopping software, today announced the availability of a unique backoffice extension and automated accounting system that supports NetConsult's INTERSHOP Online virtual storefront software.

Developed by Central Technologies of Moorpark, Calif., the new iNet.Accounting Server interfaces directly with INTERSHOP Online to create a "live link" between INTERSHOP Online and back office accounting functions. The iNet.Accounting Server consists of order entry and processing, purchase orders, point-of-sale inventory management, bar coding, general ledger accounting and reporting functions. INTERSHOP Online is the first virtual storefront software program compatible with the iNet.Accounting Server.

INTERSHOP Online allows even novice business users to create branded, feature-rich online storefronts with a minimum of time and effort. Sold as an off-the-shelf package, INTERSHOP integrates best-of-breed technologies, including Sun Microsystems' Java, Sybase's SQL database server, CyberCash's secure Internet payment technology and the latest inventory tracking capabilities.

"Being the first virtual storefront software developer to offer compatibility with the iNet.Accounting Server further validates INTERSHOP Online as the most powerful virtual storefront software on the market," said Stephan Schambach, president and CEO of NetConsult Communications. "Now INTERSHOP Online is fully compatible with any existing accounting system and can automate all the major aspects of billing and inventory for on-line purchases."

INTERSHOP Online and Central's iNet.Accounting Server both run on Microsoft Windows NT Server version 3.51 or 4.0 on the Intel Pentium platform.
