INTERNATIONALE NEDERLANDEN SELLS MINORITY INTEREST IN AIM

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- ING US Insurance Holdings, the holding company for the American insurance operations of Internationale Nederlanden (ING) Group, has sold back its 22 percent minority interest in the Houston-based mutual fund company AIM Management Group to AIM.
This also implies that ING Group will not use the option to acquire a majority interest in AIM. This is connected with AIM's decision to recapitalize the company and the considerable amount of goodwill which would be involved in acquiring the majority interest. The capital gains on the sale will be added directly to ING Group's surplus.
