INTERNATIONAL TOTALIZATOR SYSTEMS EXPECTS LOSS FOR FISCAL 1992

CARLSBAD, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- International Totalizator Systems Inc.(R) (NASDAQ: ITSI) will be reporting a loss for its fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 1992. The preliminary results indicate a net loss of approximately $638,000, or approximately $0.06 to $0.07 per share, on an estimated $19.8 million in revenue. The company anticipates reporting the final numbers by March 30, 1993.
The company attributed the results to a combination of factors, primarily relating to the fundamental changes made in the company's business in 1992. As part of a strategic plan set forth by its board of directors, the company aggressively pursued service agreements, a new source of revenue outside its traditional source of contract sales. The company did in fact, engage in two service agreements in 1992 whereby the company expects to generate revenue in the future from management fees paid as a percentage of the customers' sales. A third service agreement was recently announced on March 1, 1993.
This type of business, although potentially lucrative over time, is capital-intensive in the short term and has had an adverse impact on the company's cash position. However, the company believes the pursuit of this type of business to be ultimately beneficial to its operations and its shareholders.
International Totalizator Systems Inc. designs, manufactures, sells, supports and services computerized ticket issuing systems and terminals for the global pari-mutuel wagering, on-line lottery and automated travel ticket printing industries.
