 INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISING ASSOCIATION ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
 AT BARCELONA MEETING
 BARCELONA, Spain, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Council of the International Advertising Association elected major officers for the 1992-94 term at its biennial meeting held here in conjunction with the IAA's 33rd World Advertising Congress, the major event in the advertising marketing communications industry.
 The new officers are:
 Mustapha Assad - inaugurated as new World President (Assad is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Middle East ad agency network Publi-Graphics Group, Paris);
 Luis Carlos Mendiola Codina - Senior Vice President and World President-Elect for 1994-96, and reelected Vice President Area Director for Latin America (Mendiola is President and Chief Executive Officer of the media services company Grupo PMP, Mexico City, and is President of the IAA Mexico Chapter);
 Michel Reinarz - reelected world secretary (Reinarz is Director of Visual Communications, Nestle S.A., Vevey);
 Leon Hertz - reelected treasurer (Hertz is Executive Vice President, News America Publishing, New York);
 Gohei Kogure - reelected Vice President/Area Director - Asia/Pacific (Kogure-san is President and Chief Executive Officer of Dentsu Inc., Tokyo);
 David J. Hanger - reelected Vice President/Area Director - Europe (Hanger is Advertisement Director of The Economist Newspaper Ltd., London, and is a past President of the IAA UK Chapter);
 Loula Zaklama - Vice President/Area Director - Middle East/Africa (Zaklama is President and Managing Director of RadaResearch and Public Relations Company, Cairo, and has served as Vice President of the IAA Egypt Chapter);
 Mari Ann Blatch - Vice President/Area Director - North America (Blatch is Vice President, Consumer and Government Affairs, Reader's Digest Association, and previously served as Vice President, Government Affairs, of the IAA).
 The IAA is the only global tripartite association that represents the common interests of advertisers, agencies and the media. Its principal objectives are to protect freedom of commercial speech and consumer choice, promote the value of advertising, encourage self- regulation, and foster professional development through education and training.
 The IAA's global network comprises more than 3,200 members in 87 countries that account for 97 percent of global advertising expenditures. The Association has 100 Corporate Members, 51 Organizational Members (other associations) and 53 chapters in major international centers. The World Secretariat is located in New York City.
 The IAA closely coordinates its activities with other major advertising tripartites such as the Brussels-based European Advertising Tripartite (EAT), the U.K.'s Advertising Association (AA), Germany's ZAW, and the American Advertising Federation (AAF). It has NGO status at UNESCO and other UN agencies.
