INTERMEC ANNOUNCES DISTRIBUTOR, OEM AGREEMENTS WITH FARGO
EVERETT, Wash., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Intermec Corp. today announced it has reached two agreements with FARGO Electronics Inc.: one to distribute the complete line of FARGO bar code label printers and supplies, the other to acquire original equipment from FARGO for conversion into Intermec network-compatible technology.
Under the terms of the agreements, Intermec will distribute FARGO's thermal/thermal transfer bar code printers worldwide. Intermec will also provide service for the FARGO printers under its Medallion(R) Service program, and a complete selection of label supplies and ribbons.
"As a FARGO distributor, Intermec can offer its customers an even greater selection of bar code label printers in addition to our broad and growing line of automated data collection hardware and software systems solutions," said John W. Paxton, Intermec president.
According to Paxton, under the OEM agreement, the company can convert FARGO's Prodigy Plus(TM) bar code label printer for compatibility with Intermec's well-known CrossBar(TM) data collection network. "We view this agreement as a significant step forward in our plan to continue to meet changing customer needs with complete data collection systems and service."
Robert Cummins, FARGO's president, added that "this agreement is important since it now allows our printers to be marketed through Intermec's strong direct sales force and value-added distribution channels. It is also very gratifying to us that Intermec has selected FARGO printers for inclusion in its product line."
