INTERFAX Wins Analyst's Award.

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 1999--

Interprovincial Satellite Services Ltd. (Alberta Stock Exchange:ISS.) ("INTERSAT"), and its wholly owned subsidiary Interfax Communications Ltd., are pleased to announce that their industry-leading INTERFAX service was recently named 1999's "Most Innovative Internet Fax Service" at the Analyst Choice Awards held at the FaxDirections/Messaging World '99 conference hosted by renowned fax industry analyst, Pete Davidson.

The INTERFAX service is available today on a North American basis through INTERFAX selected channel partners, including AT&T Canada in Alberta, and through INTERFAX offices in Calgary, Toronto, and San Francisco. Further information can be found at www.interfax.ca.

INTERSAT, together with INTERFAX, is a leading developer and value-added provider, through its offices in Calgary, Toronto, Amsterdam, and San Francisco, of global fax and data network services to industry, using wireless and internet as communications media. INTERFAX services are recognized as leading the internet fax industry in the area of fax machine-originating transmissions, which comprises nearly 90 percent of the world's fax traffic. The INTERFAX service is targeted at an estimated installed base of over 100 million fax machines globally, a market which is growing at approximately 20 percent per year.
