INTERFACE AND USG INTERIORS SIGN LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR INTERSEPT(R)
LAGRANGE, Ga., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Interface, Inc. (NASDAQ: IFSIA) announced today the signing of an exclusive sales and license agreement with USG Interiors, Inc. for incorporation of the company's unique antimicrobial agent, INTERSEPT, into USG Interiors' ceiling tile systems. The company's subsidiary, Interface Research Corporation, and USG Interiors, Inc. entered into an arrangement under which USG Interiors will have the extensive right for a defined period to incorporate INTERSEPT into most of its ceiling tile systems sold in the continental United States of America.
INTERSEPT, which inhibits the growth of a wide variety of bacteria and fungi, including mold and mildew, is expected to be an ideal product enhancement for USG Interiors' broad range of high quality ceiling systems.
Ray C. Anderson, chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "We are very pleased to have reached a definitive agreement of this nature with a company of USG Interiors' stature. We believe both companies will realize substantial benefits from the relationship."
The company anticipates that sales of INTERSEPT, which is manufactured by Rockland React-Rite, Inc., the company's chemical manufacturing subsidiary, will be boosted because of USG Interiors' sizable market share of ceiling products.
According to Anderson, "Establishing this relationship with USG Interiors has moved the Environsense Consortium another step toward our ultimate goal of being able to provide our customers with the widest possible range of interior finish materials which incorporate a blend of functionality, aesthetic appeal and indoor environmental enhancements. The new products which will become available as a result of this cooperative effort should be of special interest to the growing number of design and environmental specialists who have begun to focus on indoor air quality concerns, e.g. Sick Building Syndrome."
Interface, Inc. is committed to delivering superior value to its customers, as the world's largest manufacturer of carpet tiles under the Interface and Heuga brands, and interior fabrics under the Guilford of Maine brand, for use in offices, healthcare facilities, airports, educational and other institutions, and retail facilities. The company also manufactures carpet tiles for residential use. In addition, the company engages in the manufacture and sale of chemicals used in various rubber and plastic products, and offers INTERSEPT, the company's proprietary antimicrobial chemical, under a licensing program to manufacturers of other products.
